It wasn’t until I hit the age of 29 when I started to put skincare at the top of my priority list. It made sense though; my skin was no longer regenerating as fast as it possibly could nor was it as elastic as how it used to be. Gone were the days of being 18, carefree and hitting the sheets with *gasp* – a full face of makeup on.
As great skin rose to the top of my super-important-list-of-must-haves in life, I slowly discovered the world of serums. Trust, there’s a ton of things that come attached with skincare but nothing could possibly be more confusing than serums. I mean, Zinc? Salicylic Acid? Hyaluronic Acid? Azelaic blah blah, what? It took me awhile to really get to know which serum is best for what and, after going through countless bottles (and chucking out those that didn’t do anything for me), I’ve come up with a list of serums that actually work and will help you achieve that true #flawless look.
Dryness: Hyaluronic Acid
Ever gone through a period of time where the drought isn’t just in California but, your skin as well? Or, are you the type who can’t seem to escape dry skin no matter how many times you slather (or smother) moisturizer on your face? Hyaluronic Acid is the best serum to use for you. It helps your skin suck in all the moisture and retain it by binding water molecules. Added plus: it’ll never feel heavy like a moisturizer but it sure as hell will work like one.

Uneven Skin Tone/Dullness: Vitamin C
I’m sure everyone can relate to me when I say that all I want is for my skin to emanate some type of magical glow. However, sallow coloring, sun spots and blemish marks tend to hinder me from achieving that gorgeous even skin tone. Correct me if I’m wrong but, you’re probably going through the same problems too. Luckily, there’s a serum that targets this issue that will help our skin regain radiance, sans highlight and snapchat filter.

Anti-aging: Anti-aging potions
The truth hurts, there’s no going back to young, plump and fresh skin. There’s literally no way of escaping wrinkles nor is there a magic button that we can hit in order to regenerate our skin. It’s good to know that serums are on our side when it comes to giving our skin a chance to hydrate, get rid of dead skin cells and look like we’re five years younger.

Acne: Salicylic or Glycolic Acid
Now I don’t know about you but for me, there’s nothing that zaps your confidence like acne. I’m not one to pop those gnarly little suckers and sure, I’ve learned how to live with the fact that they’ll keep popping up (no pun intended) but, there’s nothing much more beautiful than having a handy dandy serum at your beck and call to keep the breakouts at a bare minimum.
